A Description Of The Fell Ponies
Posted Under: Horses
The Fell pony has a distinctively English appearance since it is one of the native English breeds. It is a popular choice for riding and is known for being able to trot extremely long distances without tiring.
When compared with other horse breeds, the Fell pony is a very strong animal and does not require as much care as other horse breeds. When provided some sort of shelter, it will essentially live in any type of weather year round, thus eliminating the need for an enclosed barn in most climates.
These rare Fell ponies are usually black in color, though some are found in grey, brown, or bay, and some have white markings On some of their foreheads you can find an elegant looking white star.
The young ones of the Fell ponies appear to be at risk for dying as babies, and the reason for this is still not answered. For this reason, they are becoming more unusual and more costly.
Two of the most spectacular features of this horse which attract the most attention are the mane and the tail Not only are horse enthusiasts stricken by their beauty, even non horse enthusiasts notice their beauty. When the tail and the mane are well groomed, they are pleasing to look upon.
The popularity of the Fell pony is increasing as a result of people discovery their beauty and their capability. This is a larger pony with a rugged stamina, but it also has a great manner about it. This breed of horse is very popular with adults and particularly acts well around children to whom it seems to become quickly attached and loyal.
These Fell ponies are indeed rare gems that are still being discovered. They are still carefully breeded and although considered one of the more expensive breeds, have such desirable qualities that they are well worth the investment.
